Project Lighting Solutions
Many projects start with a plan, a set of finishes and a feeling the space should have, rather than a lighting specification. We help you bring the lighting requirements together so every area is considered, the layers of light work as one, and the products, quantities and budget are agreed before anything is ordered.
What you receive
- Project proposal
- Recommended products
- Preliminary lighting layout
- Estimated product budget
What we cover
- Understanding the project, its users and the intended atmosphere.
- Reviewing architectural plans, interior finishes and ceiling conditions.
- Identifying the lighting requirements for each area.
- Coordinating ambient, task, accent and decorative lighting.
- Selecting suitable products and configurations.
- Reviewing budget, quantities and delivery priorities.
- Coordinating with architects, interior designers and contractors.
- Developing a consistent lighting approach across connected spaces.

In‑House Lighting Design
Our lighting design is delivered by YG UniLUX's own lighting team, not passed to a third party. We look at the space, the people who will use it and the materials it is made of, and develop a design that gives each area the right quality of light.
| Design area | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Lighting concept | The intended atmosphere, the visual priorities and the overall approach. |
| Lighting layout | Fixture positions, spacing, mounting locations and aiming intent. |
| Layers of light | Ambient, task, accent and decorative lighting working together. |
| Light and materials | How light meets walls, furniture, textures and finishes. |
| Visual comfort | Source visibility, glare, contrast and the positions people view from. |
| Colour and appearance | Colour temperature, colour rendering and consistency from space to space. |
| Calculations and visualisation | Lighting calculations, simulations or illustrative views, where included in the scope. |
| Design coordination | Reviewing layouts alongside ceilings, joinery, air-conditioning outlets and other services. |
Illustrative renders show the intended look of a space. They are always labelled separately from calculated lighting results.
Deliverables, where included in the scope
- Concept boards
- Annotated plans
- Calculation reports
- Fixture schedules
- Design presentations
Bespoke Lighting & Customisation
A project can begin with one of our existing fittings or call for something that does not exist yet. We work at three levels, depending on how far the standard product needs to go.
Three levels
Configure a product
Select the output, colour temperature, optics, finish and the supported control options for a fitting from our range.
Adapt a product
Modify dimensions, mounting arrangements, trim details, cable lengths or other construction features, subject to feasibility.
Develop a bespoke fitting
Create a new luminaire around the project's architectural, visual and technical requirements, including custom mould development where needed.
What can be customised
- Shape, dimensions and proportions.
- Housing colour, material and finish.
- Reflectors, lenses, beam distribution and shielding.
- Mounting, suspension and adjustment details.
- Integration into ceilings, walls, furniture or joinery.
- Drivers, connections and compatible controls.
- Access for installation and maintenance.
- Requirement
- Drawing
- Prototype
- Installed
For manufacturing and tooling in detail, see OEM / ODM.
Supporting services
Around the three main services, we help with the decisions that turn a design into an order and an order into an installation.
Product Selection & Specification
Even with a finished design, choosing the right fitting for each position takes care. We help you match products to the application, check they fit and perform as intended, and prepare the documents your project needs.
What we cover
- Selecting fittings for each application.
- Matching dimensions and installation clearances.
- Reviewing output, beam angle and colour characteristics.
- Checking driver and control compatibility.
- Identifying environmental protection requirements.
- Preparing product schedules and quantities.
- Comparing alternatives against the agreed design intent and budget.
Deliverables
- Product datasheets
- Luminaire schedule
- Quantity list
- Quotation

Samples, Mock‑Ups & Lighting Trials
Important decisions are easier to make with the real thing in hand. Before the full order is placed, we can help you evaluate products, finishes and lighting effects so the final configuration is agreed with confidence.
Where offered
- Product samples.
- Colour and finish samples.
- Beam and colour-temperature comparisons.
- Prototype reviews for custom fittings.
- Installation-fit checks.
- Room or feature-area lighting trials.
- Recording feedback and approving the final configuration.
A sample review answers three practical questions.
- Does it fit?
- Does the finish work?
- Does the light create the intended effect?
Controls & Scene Planning
Good lighting should be convenient to use. We help plan how the lighting is grouped, dimmed and set for different activities, and we check that the products chosen are compatible with the control system the project uses.
What we cover
- Lighting zones and switching groups.
- Dimming requirements.
- Scene planning for different activities or times of day.
- Sensor and daylight-response requirements, where supported.
- Driver and control-system compatibility.
- Coordination with the customer's controls specialist.
- Agreed schedules describing how each scene should operate.
Technical Coordination & Installation Support
A design is only finished when it is installed as intended. We give installers the information they need and answer their questions along the way.
What we provide
- Product dimensions and cut-out information.
- Mounting and assembly instructions.
- Driver positioning and access requirements.
- Product connection information.
- Coordination of custom mounting details.
- Responses to installer technical queries.
- Aiming and adjustment guidance.
- Review of proposed substitutions.
After‑Sales
Our involvement does not end at delivery. Once the lighting is installed, we follow through with the handover agreed for the project and remain available for questions about the products supplied.
What it covers
- Agreed handover information for the installed products.
- Technical queries after installation.
- After-sales assistance for the products we supplied, as agreed in the project scope.
For anything about an installed project, tell us about it.
