Manufacturing Services

Three ways to work with us, depending on where your product starts.

  • OEM Manufacturing

Production according to your approved designs, specifications, component requirements and branding.

    When it fits

    You already have the design.

  • ODM Development & Manufacturing

Original product development, engineering, prototypes, custom moulds and manufacturing based on an agreed brief.

    When it fits

You have an idea or a brief, not yet a product.

  • Customisation & Private Label

Suitable existing products adapted through agreed changes to appearance, specifications, branding and packaging.

    When it fits

A product close to what you need already exists.

Custom Moulds & Tooling

We design new products and develop the moulds to make them. Housings and components are designed with their tooling in mind, so they fit, assemble and repeat consistently in production.

Design

  1. New housing and component design.
  2. 3D models and engineering drawings.
  3. Material and manufacturing-method selection.
  4. Review of component fit and assembly.

Develop

  1. Custom mould design and tooling development.
  2. Trial parts and dimensional inspection.

Prove & prepare

  1. Mould adjustments and sample approval.
  2. Tooling preparation for repeat production.

The tooling approach for each part is confirmed during feasibility, together with you.

  2. Steel multi-cavity injection mould block with lifting eye, close up against a dark background.
    Mould
  3. Two freshly machined aluminium parts resting on their engineering drawings.
    Trial component
  4. Three lit cone pendant lights hanging in a dark interior with a warm wall glow.

Component Manufacturing & Preparation

A fitting is only as good as its parts. Each part is produced or sourced, prepared and checked against the approved specification before it reaches assembly.

Component Manufacturing & Preparation
AreaWhat it covers
Housings & Heat SinksMaterial selection, forming or machining, dimensional checks and preparation for assembly.
Mechanical ComponentsTrims, brackets, springs, adjustment mechanisms, mounting parts and fasteners.
Optical ComponentsReflector, lens and diffuser selection or development, with fit, finish and handling checks.
Electrical ComponentsLED modules, circuit boards, drivers, cables, terminals and connectors matched to the approved specification.
Sealing ComponentsGaskets, seals and cable-entry components where the product requires environmental protection.
Surface FinishingOur powder coating facility, and other finishes such as anodising or plating where supported, with colour and appearance approved before production.
  • Extruded aluminium radial heat sink body with fine fins on a pale studio background.
    Housings
  • Two textured glass diffuser discs catching a streak of light on black.
    Optics
  • Cluster of satin brass-finished dome pendant shades hanging against a warm grey wall.

Assembly & Production Control

Consistency comes from control: the same drawings, the same parts and the same checks for every unit in an order.

Prepare

  • Production planning against the approved order.
  • Controlled drawings, specifications and component lists.
  • Incoming material and component inspection.
  • Preparation of parts and assembly stations.

Assemble

  • Mechanical assembly.
  • LED module and thermal-interface installation.
  • Driver installation, wiring and connection checks.
  • Reflector, lens and diffuser installation.
  • Sealing where required.

Check

  • In-process inspections and functional checks.
  • Final cleaning, inspection and identification.

Protection RequirementsApplication-specific dust, moisture, impact or corrosion requirements, subject to validation.
BrandingLogos, product labels, model numbers and identification markings.
PackagingPrinted boxes, protective inserts, instructions, barcodes and shipping cartons.

Available options depend on the product, technical feasibility and agreed order requirements.

Quality Control & Product Testing

Quality is checked at three stages, not only at the end.

  1. Before Production

Review of materials, components, drawings, specifications and approved samples.

  2. During Production

Dimensional, assembly, wiring, finish and functional checks at defined stages.

  3. Before Dispatch

Final product inspection, agreed performance checks, packaging review and quantity verification.

Tests we perform or arrange, depending on the product

  • Electrical safety and functional checks.
  • Power consumption and driver operation.
  • Light output, colour and beam evaluation.
  • Temperature and thermal performance.
  • Dimming and control compatibility.
  • Mechanical operation and mounting checks.
  • Ageing or burn-in testing under defined conditions.
  • Environmental or protection testing where applicable.

Testing by external laboratories is identified separately from our own checks, and a published rating always refers to the product it was tested on.

From Enquiry to Delivery

Nine stages from your first message to delivery, with two points where nothing moves forward without your approval. Planning lighting for a whole project? See How We Work on our Services page.

Application, drawings, specifications, quantity, market and schedule.

  2. Feasibility & Quotation

Manufacturing approach, pricing, development needs and tooling scope.

  3. Your approval

    Design Confirmation

Approved drawings, materials, components and finishes.

  4. Prototype & Tooling

Samples, mould development and trial parts where required.

  5. Your approval

    Sample Approval

The agreed reference sample and acceptance requirements.

  6. Production Preparation

Material purchasing, work instructions and production planning.

  7. Trial & Mass Production

    Assembly with defined inspection checkpoints.

  8. Final Inspection & Packing

Product, packaging, documentation and quantity checks.

  9. Delivery & After-Sales Support

Dispatch coordination and follow-up under agreed terms.

Packaging & Delivery Preparation

Every order is prepared for the way it will travel and the way it will be received.

  • Individual product protection.
  • Custom packaging and branding.
  • Accessories and installation instructions.
  • Product and carton labels.
  • Carton quantity, dimensions and weight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can YG manufacture from our drawings or samples?

Yes. We can manufacture from your drawings, specifications or a reference sample. We first review them for manufacturing feasibility and confirm the materials, components and finishes with you before a sample is prepared.

Can YG develop a new product and custom mould?

Yes. Through our ODM service we can develop a new product from an agreed brief, including engineering, prototypes and custom moulds. Ikkiso, our R&D partner in Japan, supports this development work. Whether a new mould is needed is confirmed during feasibility.

What customisation is available?

Dimensions, appearance, light performance, optics, mounting, electrical configuration, controls, protection requirements, branding and packaging can all be discussed. Available options depend on the product, technical feasibility and agreed order requirements.

What are the minimum order quantities?

Minimum quantities are agreed per project. They depend on the product, the level of customisation and whether new tooling is needed. Tell us your estimated quantity and we will advise what is practical.

How are sample, tooling and production charges handled?

Sample, tooling and production charges are set out in the quotation for each project. They depend on the development needed and the quantities involved, and are agreed before work begins.

How are mould ownership and exclusive use agreed?

Mould ownership and exclusive use are agreed for each project before tooling begins.

What determines lead time?

Lead time depends on whether the product is new or existing, whether tooling is needed, how long sample approval takes, the order quantity and component availability. A schedule is confirmed with the quotation.

How are samples approved?

A reference sample is prepared and reviewed against the approved drawings and specifications. Once you approve it, it becomes the agreed reference for production and inspection.

What testing and documentation are available?

Testing depends on the product and its market. We perform or arrange electrical, photometric, thermal and functional checks, and testing by external laboratories is identified separately. The documentation for each order, such as product specifications, packing lists and shipment documents, is agreed with you.

What warranty and after-sales terms apply?

Warranty and after-sales terms are agreed for each order, depending on the product and its application.

Start Your Manufacturing Project

Tell us what you would like to make. Drawings, photos or a reference product help us understand it before we talk. An estimate is enough for quantities and dates.

Countries or regions where the product will be sold.

For example, recessed downlight or magnetic track spot.

Service required

Dimensions, wattage, colour temperature, CRI, beam angle, finish, controls, protection, or anything you already know.

An estimate is fine, for example 2,000 pieces, then 500 a month.

Month and year.
